Cathedral Mass

Low Mass in the Extraordinary Form is said in Westminster Cathedral on the second Saturday of each month at 4.30pm. This is a high profile celebration of the Extraordinary Form in the Mother Church of the Diocese, offered at a side altar witnessed by the many visitors who pass through the Cathedral. Members are encouraged to attend as frequently as possible and to be welcoming to any visitors by sharing missals or helping them to follow the Mass. This is a highly useful publicity opportunity for the Society, demonstrating the Old Rite celebrated at the heart of the Church.

Please make every effort to attend.

The Society has useful Mass missalettes for sale to guide newcomers through the Ordinary of the Mass; CTS has also recently published a handy guide plus an explanatory booklet.

Local Masses

Central London in the Westminster Diocese is well served with regular Old Rite Masses at the Brompton Oratory, Brompton Rd, London SW7; St James, Spanish Place, George St, London W1; and Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane, London, WC2.

It would be nice if more Masses were available to members in the outlying parishes of the Diocese. Please let me know if your parish could support a Mass in the Extraordinary Form. Express an interest in this to your parish priest. Many priests may be hesitant but waiting for encouragement from the laity. Training in saying the Old Rite is available from the Society either at its regular training conferences or, possibly, on an ad hoc basis.
